#製作<br>用橡皮圈把玻璃珠包在布內並綁緊，或用竹筷與橡皮圈把布紮緊。<br><br />
#操作<br>把半鍋水放在卡式爐上，注意生火環境的安全，然後把植物粉末倒入鍋內並煮開，把布壓入水中再泡十分鐘。戴上膠皮手套，把染過的布扭乾，放在媒染劑中輕輕搓揉五分鐘，然後在水龍頭下沖洗三分鐘再晾乾。<br><br />

染布的目的是防腐、美觀與辨識。色素可附著在布料纖維上，也會被沖洗而褪色；因此染布前常把布料泡在豆漿中，利用蛋白質使色素較容易附著在布上，並在染色後泡在媒染劑中藉助二價以上的金屬離子（如Ca<sup>2+</sup>，Fe<sup>2+</sup>或Al<sup>3+</sup>）使色素團塊增大，而不易從纖維內脫落。除了酸鹼性的作用，媒染劑也會使色素顏色改變，是由於金屬離子在色素分子中的能階改變。<br />
<br />
#結果：色素粉在鍋中煮的時間愈久，溶出的色素愈多；布放在鍋中以後不必煮，泡得愈久顏色愈深，但是泡太久反而會破壞布料纖維，且顏色也不會變深多少，建議以十分鐘為限。<br />
#結果：在媒染液中應輕微搓動布，使液體深入布料各處。通常泡五分鐘即可，時間愈久也不會增加顏色深度，因為媒染的作用是定色，目的不是增色。<br />
#結果：已染過色素的同一塊布，在不同的媒染劑中會變色。其中「紅薑黃」最適合使用的媒染劑是「明礬」，可以呈現美麗的金黃色。而「石灰」作為媒染劑時，能使各種紅色素更鮮艷，如紅辣椒，紅麴和薯榔。<br />
